The Brazilian Plant Species List project, initiated in 2008, has enabled more than 400 taxonomists to work together to meet Goal 1 established by the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC-CBD). In 2010 was released the first online version of The Brazilian Plant Species List and the Brazil´s Plants and Fungi Catalog. Currently, the Brazilian Plant Species List system is an integral part of the REFLORA Program and now has more than 500 taxonomists, both Brazilian and foreign. These researchers are responsible for updating information on nomenclature (accepted names vs. synonyms) and geographic distribution (occurrence in Brazil, endemism and Phytogeographic Domains), as well as valuable information on life forms, substrate and vegetation types of each taxon.
