BioVeL supports scientists to carry out research on biodiversity by offering computerized tools ("workflows") to process large amounts of data from your own and cross-disciplinary sources, as well as tools for designing and running workflows. As research in biodiversity becomes global, to tackle environmental issues such as invasive species, novel computational research tools are needed to synthesize data from multiple species over broad geographical areas. The Ecological Niche Modelling workflow family was created using computational pipelines developed through the BioVeL project (http://www.biovel.eu) that merge large amounts of species occurrence data with climatic and environmental information.Who is it for? Researchers in ecology and evolution analyzing biogeographic patterns over large spatial, temporal, environmental and taxonomic scales. What is it for? Studies of species adaptations to climate change, dynamic modelling of ecologically related species, identification of regions with accumulated risk for invasion, potential for restoration, or need for protection. There are three versions of those workflows (ENM, Bioclim, ESW). BioVeL is funded by the EU’s Seventh Framework Program, grant no. 283359.
