Network for the study of mycological diversity

In February 2021, ISPRA launched the Network for the study of mycological diversity -NMD, with the aim of collecting, systematising and publishing in a single national database of reliefs, samples and historical and current data relating to fungal species present in Italian habitats. The Network is a network system that integrates human and technological resources to achieve the national census and monitoring of macromycetes.

The Network is a network system that integrates human and technological resources to achieve the national census and monitoring of macromycetes on these grounds: - develop research, research, analysis and communication of data and information on the protection of mycological biodiversity with innovative management solutions through an open science initiative - provide appropriate cooperation tools between the different subjects involved in the Network and define shared scientific standards with which to operate; - provide a national homogeneous knowledge base to stakeholders to implement specific policies for the protection and conservation of this biological community in the light of climate change and their effects.
